Abstract

This paper presents the design evolution of drive booster configuration for terrain vehicle to manoeuvre over the roads covered with mud or snow. The proposed design of booster consisted small number of parts whose sizing is accomplished through design calculations. The intended system will take power from engine to do so but in petite proportion. The booster increases the moment of inertia through increment in angular speed of terrain vehicle. Structural design adequacy is assessed using ANSYS commercial finite element analysis software. Available safety margin is extracted through static analysis. The severance of first natural frequency of the intended booster system is ascertained from that of engine by carrying out modal analysis.

Abstract

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System means to use the Exhaust Gas coming from Exhaust Manifold to inlet manifold in order to reduce the emission of NOX, which is particularly very harmful. Engine without EGR are more pollutant and uses more atmospheric air for combustion. By implementation of EGR system in engine, the partial exhaust gas is re-circulated again in engine. It is first cooled in EGR Cooler&then it is mixed with atmospheric air&then passed to Combustion Chamber. Fresh atmospheric air required is reduced&automatically pollutant (CO, CO2, HC, NO_X etc.) is reduced. In the present work is to review the potential of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) to reduce the exhaust emissions, particularly NOX emissions, and to delimit the application range of this technique with different Isobutonal blends with diesel. In the present investigation brake mean effective pressure is highest at 5% of Isobutonal with 17.9225 of EGR and the brake thermal efficiency 22.65%. The Volumetric efficiency is almost same in all the cases and the brake specific fuel consumption is lower at 7% of Isobutonal with 22.65% of EGR. The system is very much Eco Friendly. Using Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Technique in engines, the emissions are very much controlled. This method is very reliable in terms of fuel consumption.

Abstract

Performance of automobile transmission systems is evaluated at different attitudes of the engine in order to simulate dynamic acceleration inputs. Dynamic test rigs presently being used for this purpose are of very large in physical size and not readily adaptable for use in the confines of conventional engine test systems. Moreover, these systems makes use of hydraulic power, which is not well adapted to an engine test system environment because of lack of centralized hydraulic power in these systems and potential problems with the use of high-pressure hydraulics in a high-temperature environment where mechanical damage to hydraulic power is possible. To get rid of the problems with conventional test rigs, design of powertrain attitude simulator is taken up in this project. This simulator can be comfortably used for testing engines, transmissions, gearboxes and etc. The intended system includes inner and outer frames that are rotated independently by gear reduced electric motors. The end result of this project would be a simulator, which provides both static and dynamic testing of automobile transmission systems during their operation in varying attitudes.
